]| NEARfest 2008 comments: Tom Hyatt [06.23.08]

It was an exciting and scary set for us. Most of all it was humbling to play amongst our pears and to an audience who has stuck with us for so many years (Note unintentional rhyme). I hope we delivered the goods for everyone. The show itself was such a whirlwind I can barely remember if I was playing the same songs as everyone else. It was strange going back to the cubicle life today and thinking "I had an opportunity yesterday to play in front of 1200 or so people". Thank you to everyone who has enabled us to live out our teenage musical dreams.

]| Brett's Spring 2008 Update. [05.19.08]

the new echolyn album is underway and knee deep. although there have been reports of release dates from various sources this is the ONLY official one. as of this moment we have stopped working on new songs to begin rehearsals for the big 10 year anniversary show for NEARFEST 2008. we are all very excited to have been asked to play. we neeeed to rehearse it's been since montreal and lowell in the fall of 2006?? we've been revamping the set to make our performance special. going back to our first album to learn a song we have not played in over 13 years was pretty laughable but at the same time powerful in that we are all different people now and bring that to the essence of the old songs. i believe we have a about 110 minutes to play and promise to make it feel like a 30 minute set with much intensity!!

back to the new album... we have 6 songs complete as demos and hope to double that this summer for a fall release. we've learned that you can't rush these things. we don't want to release the same old crap or just go through the motions. our music has to take us to new places and we have to find that intangible vibe that carries us into and through our projects. muscle memory is fine for remembering those old parts of tunes but NOT for writing new music. with that said we are very very excited to get this stuff done because what we have so far is soooooo cool!

did everyone see the georgia pine video from the nj proghouse? its on youtube and our official site. speaking of videos... we will be doing a video for the new album of at least one song for promotion before the album comes out so stay tuned for that. we are recording/rehearsing at my studio

re release of "cowboy poems"?? yes it will happen. we are finalizing new artwork and the mixes now. we just have to get it mastered then pressed. we are shooting for the NEARFEST show to have it available. cross our fingers.

last of the curlews? yep, that's my new solo album. almost off the presses. go to my myspace for more info.

]| Little Man No More. [02.19.08]

Friends,

The words I wrote for our first song are for a close friend whose son was very sick. I say was because around 430 this afternoon he left us. He was surrounded with family and friends. Once he had passed his mother played our song for those present. I made a promise to him that people around the world would know him. His name is Ray Foster. A brave little man. Hug your children, love your wife, girl, man, tell someone how much they mean to you and never forget.

]| Never the Same [06.25.07]

I and the rest of the band would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Orysiek and Rodowicz family in the loss of Richard Orysiek who passed away Saturday June 17. Rich along with his brother Ray were the the most critical influences in my development as a musician as well as the two of the greatest and most enduring friendships I will ever know. Rich was also the person to take me out to see echolyn for the first time at Dewers tavern back in spring of 1991, thus having the greatest impact ever on my career as a musician and life overall. He touched so many lives in more ways than he will ever know. God bless you and keep you Rich. My most sincere gratitude for your influence, encouragement, and for the extraordinary gift of music. My love to you and your family. Rock on Bro!!!
